Information Modeler for Digital Thread/ Twin initiatives
The core of a Digital twin is standardized, machine readable data and that is made possible through a Digital thread that can track, trace and convey that standardized data. For a PLM tool to fully accommodate such standardized data to support a digital twin may mean adding data to PLM data model, that is not relevant at certain stages of product design, development processes. To get the best of OOTB PLM and leverage PLM to support Digital thread capabilities and further enable Digital twin, it is important that such information models should be developed, maintained and integrated in a loosely coupled environment.
Structured Data makes this possible, by allowing information models driving Digital thread/ twin capabilities for various products, processes to co-exist with the default OOTB PLM data model. Information Modeling users can create new data models and rules for collecting, storing, disseminating data and notifying of any data boundaries.
